Role Overview
This role is not for someone who just "listens to students." You are expected to actively shape student behaviour, decision-making, and long-term direction.
Key Responsibilities
Provide individual and group counselling to students on academic, personal, and career-related issues
Identify students at risk (academically, emotionally, socially) and intervene early
Develop and implement guidance programmes that improve student performance and well-being
Support students with career planning, CV development, and decision-making
Collaborate with academic staff to address behavioural and performance challenges
Maintain accurate, confidential student counselling records
Organise workshops on mental health, study habits, emotional intelligence, and life skills
Refer complex cases to external professionals where necessary
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Guidance and Counselling, Psychology, or a related field (Master's degree is a strong advantage)
Minimum of 5 years relevant experience (school or university setting preferred)
Strong emotional intelligence, not theory, real-world application.
Ability to handle confidential and sensitive situations professionally
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Evidence of practical impact (not just certificates) in previous roles.
