Requirements :
Basic R425/R174/R171 or 683 qualification (Diploma or Degree in nursing) or equivalent qualification that allows registration with the SANC as a Professional Nurse/General Nurse. No experience required.
Duties :
Demonstrate an understanding of nursing legislation and related legal framework. Perform clinical nursing in accordance with the scope of practice and nursing standards as determined by the health facility.
Promote quality of nursing as directed by the scope of practice and standards as determined by the health facility. Demonstrate effective communication with patients, supervisors and other clinicians, including report writing when required. Work as part of the multidisciplinary team to ensure good nursing care.
Work effectively, co-operatively amicably with persons of diverse intellectual, cultural, racial or religious differences. Able to plan and organise work and that of support personnel to ensure proper nursing care. Display a concern for patients, promoting and advocating proper treatment and care to respond to patient needs, requirements and expectations (Batho Pele).
Provide direction and supervision for the implementation of nursing care plan. Implement standards, practice and criteria and indicators for quality nursing. Maintain constructive working relationships with nursing and other stakeholders. Implement PMDS for subordinates and CPD requirements.
Be willing to learn and participate in in-service training of subordinates and the multidisciplinary team. Ability to utilise both human, material resources effectively. Adherence to Ideal Hospital Realisation and Maintenance framework. Implement Infection Prevention and Control measures.
