The Quality Laboratory Specialist is responsible for planning, conducting, and reporting on the full range of physical, physico-chemical, and microbiological tests performed across Sunbeth Global Concepts Limited's (SGCL) Quality Laboratory. The role ensures that all agro-commodities received, processed, and exported by SGCL meet internal quality benchmarks and comply with EU, ICCO, Codex Alimentarius, and other relevant international food safety and grading standards, safeguarding SGCL's market access, buyer relationships, and reputation for quality.
Job Details
Physical Quality (Grading) Laboratory
Carry out visual and physical assessments of raw agro-commodity on arrival to determine physical quality, commercial grade, and export suitability.
Physico-Chemical Laboratory
Conduct high-precision chemical analyses to detect contaminants and measure quality parameters required for regulatory compliance and buyer/certifier acceptance.
Microbiology Laboratory
Perform microbiological and rapid screening tests under controlled biosafety conditions to safeguard product and staff safety.
General Laboratory & Quality Management Duties
Operate, maintain, and calibrate all laboratory equipment (LC-MS/MS, GC-MS/MS, AAS, HPLC, NIR Spectrometer, ELISA Reader, Autoclave, Muffle Furnace, and related instruments) in line with manufacturer specifications and accreditation requirements.
Prepare timely, accurate laboratory test reports and Certificates of Analysis (CoA) for internal teams, buyers, and certification bodies.
Qualifications and Experience:
Minimum of Bachelor of Science in Food Science, Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a closely related field. (Masters degree will be added advantage).
At least 3-5 years of experience in a food testing, agricultural, or analytical laboratory, with demonstrable experience in pesticide residue testing, mycotoxin analysis, and general quality laboratory tests.
Good working knowledge of EU Maximum Residue Limits for pesticides and heavy metals (Regulation 396/2005 and Regulation 2023/915), ICCO agro-commodity grading standards, and Codex Alimentarius food safety standards.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
