Role Summary
The Research & Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) Manager provides technical leadership for research, monitoring, evaluation and learning across DKT Nigeria. The role leads the design, implementation and quality assurance of operational, implementation, market and consumer research; strengthens M&E systems; and ensures that evidence is translated into program improvements and strategic decision-making. The Manager serves as the focal point for research excellence, supporting evidence generation for programs, demand generation and donor reporting.
Key Responsibilities
Research Oversight
Develop and lead DKT Nigeria\'s annual research agenda aligned with organizational and donor priorities.
Design and oversee operational research, implementation research, market research, consumer insight studies and program evaluations.
Review research proposals, protocols, questionnaires and analysis plans for methodological quality and feasibility.
Develop sampling strategies, research methodologies and statistical analysis plans.
Coordinate ethics approvals and ensure compliance with research governance, ethical standards and data protection requirements.
Conduct consumer and market insights to guide demand generation and behaviour change campaigns.
Research Management & Partnerships
Manage external research partners, consultants and contracts to ensure high-quality deliverables.
Coordinate study implementation from protocol development through dissemination.
Ensure research timelines, budgets and milestones are achieved.
Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning
Lead implementation and continuous improvement of M&E frameworks and data quality systems.
Develop indicators, monitoring tools, dashboards and performance reporting systems.
Conduct routine data quality assessments and strengthen organizational use of evidence.
Generate program performance analyses to support adaptive management.
Data Analysis & Reporting
Lead advanced quantitative and qualitative data analysis using appropriate software.
Interpret findings and produce technical reports, manuscripts, presentations and executive summaries.
Communicate research findings to technical and non-technical audiences.
Translate evidence into practical recommendations for programme, marketing and commercial teams.
Capacity Building & Organizational Learning
Build staff capacity on research methods, sampling, data collection and analysis.
Lead dissemination workshops and learning events.
Promote publication of research findings in conferences, peer-reviewed journals and technical forums where appropriate.
Qualifications & Experience
Master's degree in Public health, Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Statistics, Health Economics or related discipline.
Minimum 4 years\' progressive experience in research and M&E within public health, SRHR, social marketing or international development.
Expertise in quantitative, qualitative and mixed-methods research.
Strong knowledge of sampling strategies, implementation science and research ethics.
Experience managing external research partners and multidisciplinary studies.
Advanced proficiency in statistical software (Stata, SPSS, R or equivalent) and qualitative analysis software (e.g. NVivo) is highly desirable.
Excellent scientific writing, presentation and stakeholder engagement skills.
