The Rice Commercial/Trading Lead is responsible for the overall profitability and market expansion of the company's rice portfolio. You will manage the entire value chain, including vendor relationships, supply procurement, market demand forecasting, and logistics. You will be the primary strategist for navigating price volatility, ensuring reliable supply, and driving market share growth.
Key Responsibilities
Trading & Procurement Strategy
Sourcing & Vendor Management: Develop and maintain a network of reliable rice suppliers and farmers. Negotiate contracts, pricing, and payment terms to optimize costs and ensure quality standards.
Market Analysis: Monitor global and local commodity prices, crop cycles, and trade policies. Use this intelligence to make informed buying/selling decisions and mitigate price risks.
Supply Chain Planning: Manage inventory levels to balance market demand with supply availability, preventing stock-outs or overstock scenarios.
Commercial Growth & Sales
Market Penetration: Identify and capitalize on new distribution channels, including retail chains, wholesalers, and institutional buyers.
Revenue Management: Set competitive pricing strategies based on market trends to maximize margins while maintaining customer loyalty.
Account Management: Manage relationships with high-volume buyers, ensuring consistent service, order fulfillment, and client satisfaction.
Logistics & Quality Assurance
Logistics Coordination: Oversee the end-to-end movement of rice—from field or port to warehouse to final customer. Optimize freight and storage costs.
Quality Control: Ensure all rice batches meet safety, nutritional, and grade standards. Manage the inspection process for incoming shipments.
Compliance: Ensure full compliance with food safety regulations, import/export requirements, and local agricultural standards.
Reporting & Performance
P&L Ownership: Take accountability for the profitability of the rice trading business unit.
Reporting: Provide the Board and Executive leadership with regular reports on trade volumes, inventory turns, margin analysis, and market risk exposure
