The Sales Engineer - Boilers & Compressors will be responsible for driving revenue growth through the sale of industrial boilers, steam systems, compressed air equipment, and associated services.
This role demands a strong blend of engineering expertise, consultative selling, and commercial negotiation skills, enabling the Sales Engineer to position technically sound, energy-efficient, and cost-effective solutions tailored to customer operations.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Sales and Business Development
Proactively identify, qualify, and develop new sales opportunities for boilers, steam systems, compressors, and compressed air solutions across industrial sectors.
Build and maintain strong relationships with plant managers, engineers, procurement teams, and decision-makers.
Conduct detailed site surveys, system assessments, and technical evaluations to understand operational requirements and constraints.
Develop and present technical and commercial proposals, including equipment sizing, system layouts, energy efficiency calculations, ROI analysis, and lifecycle cost evaluations.
Lead commercial negotiations, ensuring alignment with margin targets, contract terms, and customer expectations.
Achieve assigned sales targets and contribute to overall business growth strategy.
Engineering and Client Support
Provide expert technical support in the application and selection of:
Steam boilers (oil, gas, electric, biomass where applicable)
Steam accessories and condensate recovery systems
Air compressors (screw, piston, oil-free, high-pressure)
Air treatment and distribution systems
Support customers with energy optimization, efficiency improvements, and compliance with operational standards.
Promote and cross-sell value-added services, including energy audits, calibration, preventive maintenance contracts, commissioning, and operator training.
Liaise closely with project, service, and commissioning teams to ensure smooth handover from sales to execution.
Market Intelligence & Strategy
Monitor market trends, competitor offerings, pricing strategies, and emerging technologies in boilers and compressed air systems.
Track regulatory, safety, and environmental requirements affecting industrial energy systems in East Africa.
Provide market feedback to management to support product development and sales strategy refinement.
Reporting & Internal Coordination
Maintain accurate records of leads, opportunities, quotations, and forecasts using CRM systems.
Prepare regular sales reports, pipeline updates, and market intelligence summaries for management.
Coordinate with finance and logistics teams on pricing approvals, delivery schedules, and payment milestones.
Health, Safety & Compliance
Ensure all proposals and recommendations comply with applicable safety standards, statutory regulations, and pressure equipment requirements.
Promote safe working practices during site visits and technical assessments.

Qualifications and Skills
Required
Minimum 4+ years' experience in technical sales within the industrial, energy, boilers, or compressed air sector in Kenya or East Africa.
Strong technical background in boilers, steam systems, and compressed air applications.
Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and performance data.
Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
Willingness to travel extensively to customer sites across the region.
