Qualifications and Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Education or higher
Valid teacher certification (preferred)
Minimum two years' teaching experience (Kenyan applicants)
Minimum five years' teaching experience (International applicants)
Valid TSC Number for Kenyan applicants
International or multicultural teaching experience (preferred)
Strong understanding of language and literature instruction, assessment, and curriculum design
Excellent classroom management, communication, and collaboration skills
Strong alignment with Woodland Star's mission and values
Current police clearance/background check
Certified copies of academic and professional qualifications
At least two professional references, including one from a current supervisor
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver engaging, inquiry-based English Language & Literature lessons aligned with Common Core Standards
Design meaningful learning experiences that integrate language, literature, and media studies through conceptual and thematic teaching
Foster an inclusive, supportive, and academically challenging classroom environment
Develop and implement formative and summative assessments to monitor learner progress and inform instruction
Differentiate teaching strategies to meet the diverse needs of learners
Support students in developing critical thinking, communication, creativity, and analytical skills through reading, writing, speaking, and discussion
Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum planning, assessment, student wellbeing, and professional learning
Build positive relationships with learners and families through effective communication
Uphold Woodland Star's mission, values, Behaviour Code, and commitment to environmental sustainability
Participate actively in school events, projects, and wider community initiatives
Engage in continuous professional learning and reflective teaching practice
