Key Performance Areas:
Manage Nuclear and Conventional Safety
Manage the Radiological safety, license and statutory requirements.
Monitor limits of the facility and ensure that they are within the specification.
Report defects within the facility to the manager.
Manage the inventory of uranium contained in drums at P2700.
Manage the operation of the Chemical and Physical Decontamination Facilities
Recovery and purification of HEU and MEU
Manage the decontamination of uranium-contaminated material from D&D
Ensure the effective use, storage and inventory control of extremely expensive and sensitive materials requiring strict mass control
Oversee the Crystal neutralization, Gunge, spunge added, and dry solid waste evaporation
Ensure that the effluent storage, effluent evaporation, stripping, solid crystal formed and stored in 5lt HDPE containers
Make sure that the melting of uranium metal into MBP.
Make sure that the KOH leach, Acid leach, uranyl nitrate extraction, purified, yellow cake precipitation, yellow cake reduction into UF4, and uranium metal is casted.
Check the maintenance of equipment and schedule for inspection
Control, update and create documents for new and current licensed processes to conform to NNR license requirements.
Conduct internal audits and maintain a job observation program.
Write reports monthly, quarterly and annual.
Develop work instructions to conform with statutory requirements.
Describe operational technical specifications.
Register NCR and Events for the noncompliance in the facility.
Generate and implement procedures
Write and evaluate work procedures
Train and authorise personnel in work procedures
Appoint and authorise personnel for all the statutory training received from SHEQ
SHEQ, NNR, IAEA, SAFEGAURDS compliance
Ensure that uranium materials are stored in accordance with IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency) and the NNR regulations.
Implementation of management systems, standards etc in accordance with relevant ISO systems, SHEQ system, generic corporate policy, NNR and IAEA, standards and guidelines.
Management of waste generated in accordance with the NNR requirements and SWO (Solid Waste Operations) for disposal and compliance to WAR (Waste Acceptance Requirements).
Control the quality system to comply with the quality management system.
Manage IAEA waste inventory and declared to safeguards.
Ensure that the facility operates in accordance with NIL (Nuclear Installation Licensing) requirements and operating technical specifications
Initiate event management when required as per SHEQ and NIL requirements:
Coordinate investigation into the event to establish root cause
Implement corrective action based on findings.
Conduct formal close-out of the event.
Report event close-out formally to NNR and the SHEQ department
Submit nuclear authorisation requests to the NNR such as for changes to processes, license updates and changes in operational scope
Ensure that nuclear authorisation requests comply with the requirements of the NNR and the internal Necsa Licensing department
Manage the transportation of nuclear material transferred to authorised nuclear facilities on the Necsa site
Monitor the facility safety to achieve >80 compliance during the SHEQ audit and NNR inspection

People Management
Ensure that all staff are trained, skilled and that their expertise is optimally applied.
Coach and mentor staff on an ongoing basis.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications and Experience:
National Diploma in Analytical Chemistry/ Metallurgical /Applied Science or equivalent
5 years of experience in a nuclear/hazardous chemical operations facility with of which
3 years of experience must be in Uranium Chemistry operations and
At least 1 year of experience in supervisory role.
