Job Summary:
The Security Officer is responsible for maintaining a secure and safe environment for patients, staff, visitors, and hospital property. The role involves monitoring access to the hospital premises, enforcing safety protocols, responding to incidents, and supporting emergency procedures. The Security Officer is a key front-line personnel in ensuring safety and order at all times.
Key Responsibilities
Monitor and control entry and exit points for staff, patients, visitors, and vehicles.
Verify identity and credentials of individuals seeking access to restricted areas.
Maintain visitor logs and issue visitor tags.
Patrol hospital premises (internal and external) on a scheduled basis.
Monitor security cameras (CCTV) for suspicious activities.
Report and document any unusual activities, breaches, or potential threats.
Act as first responder during emergency situations (fire, medical emergencies, security threats).
Alert appropriate personnel and assist in evacuation or lockdown procedures.
Administer basic first aid or emergency support pending the arrival of medical staff (if trained).
Record daily occurrences, incidents, and security-related issues in a logbook or reporting system.
Prepare detailed incident reports and submit to the Security Supervisor or CSO.
Assist with controlling crowd movements in high-traffic areas such as entrances, outpatient departments, and waiting areas.
Manage vehicular traffic and ensure proper parking procedures are followed.
Prevent loitering or unauthorized gatherings on the premises.
Prevent theft, damage, or misuse of hospital equipment, supplies, and infrastructure.
Escort valuable assets and sensitive materials during internal transport.
Job Requirement:
Minimum of 2 - 3 years experience as a security guard or related role, preferably in a hospital or healthcare facility.
Prior experience in dealing with the public in a professional and courteous manner.
Physical fitness and ability to patrol for long hours.
Good communication skills (verbal and written).
Basic knowledge of security operations and equipment (e.g., CCTV, radios).
Ability to stay calm and act decisively in emergencies.
Integrity, vigilance, and a strong sense of responsibility.
