Description
A Senior Electrical Engineerdesigns, develops, tests, and supervises complex electrical systems, components, and machinery while leading projects and mentoring junior staff.
Key duties include producing technical drawings, ensuring compliance with safety standards, performing system analysis, managing budgets, and providing technical support for operations.
Key Responsibilities
Design & Engineering: Develop, design, and implement complex electrical systems (low/medium voltage, power distribution, control systems).
Technical Leadership: Lead engineering projects, perform peer reviews, and provide expert technical guidance to junior engineers and technicians.
Project Management: Manage project schedules, budgets, and deliverables while coordinating with stakeholders, contractors, and clients.
Analysis & Troubleshooting: Analyze existing systems for improvements, perform root cause analysis, and troubleshoot equipment failures.
Compliance & Safety: Ensure all designs and installations meet industry codes, standards, and safety regulations (e.g., LOTO, NEC).
Documentation: Generate detailed reports, specifications, and CAD drawings.
Qualifications & Skills
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering; a Master's degree is often preferred.
Experience: Generally 5 - 10+ years of experience in electrical engineering, design, or maintenance.
Technical Proficiency: Expertise in electrical design software (e.g., AutoCAD, ETAP).
Licensure: Professional Engineer (PE) license is highly preferred or required in many roles.
Skills: Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and project management skills.
Typical Work Environment:
Office-based design work combined with on-site factory or field visits for inspections and commissioning.
May involve travel to project sites and occasionally working outside normal business hours.
