Qualifications & Requirements
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
Diploma, Higher Diploma, or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from a recognized institution.
Valid Nursing Council of Kenya (NCK) Practicing License.
Minimum of ten (10) years\' progressive nursing experience, with a proven track record of clinical excellence and leadership.
Must have held a senior nursing, nursing supervisor, nursing services manager, or equivalent leadership position with demonstrable achievements.
Previous experience working in a busy Level 4 or higher hospital is mandatory.
Experience in a private hospital setting will be a distinct advantage.
Demonstrated success in managing nursing teams, improving service delivery, maintaining quality standards, and driving performance improvement initiatives.
Strong interest and practical experience in Maternal & Child Health (MCH) and/or Theatre Services will be highly preferred.
Sound knowledge of nursing regulations, quality assurance standards, infection prevention and control practices, and patient safety protocols.
Strong leadership, communication, conflict resolution, coaching, and team-building skills.
Experience in hospital management systems, nursing documentation, and clinical audits.
High level of professionalism, integrity, accountability, and commitment to patient-centered care.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
Providing leadership, supervision, and coordination of nursing services across the hospital.
Ensuring delivery of safe, high-quality, and patient-centered nursing care in line with professional standards and hospital policies.
Leading, mentoring, coaching, and developing nursing staff to enhance performance and clinical competence.
Monitoring nursing quality indicators and implementing continuous quality improvement initiatives.
Supporting and strengthening MCH, Theatre, Outpatient, Inpatient, and other specialized clinical services.
Ensuring compliance with Nursing Council of Kenya regulations, infection prevention protocols, and patient safety standards.
Participating in workforce planning, staff scheduling, performance management, and succession planning.
Conducting nursing audits, incident reviews, and corrective action follow-up.
Collaborating with medical consultants, clinicians, departmental heads, and hospital management to improve patient outcomes and operational efficiency.
Overseeing proper documentation, medication management, and adherence to clinical governance requirements.
Championing Continuous Medical Education (CME) programs and professional development initiatives for nursing staff.
Driving a culture of accountability, professionalism, teamwork, and service excellence throughout the nursing department.
