Coca-Cola Beverages South Africa (CCBSA) has an exciting opportunity in our Warehouse department. We are looking for talented individual with relevant skills and experience for Shunter Driver, which is based in Devland. The successful candidate will report directly to the Team Leader Warehouse in Devland. Key Purpose to maneuver trucks & trailers safely & efficiently in the yard/warehouse area so that vehicles & trailers can be loaded, off-loaded & parked within the predefined operational efficiency standards.

Key Duties & Responsibilities
Shunting and Dock Management
Spot and stage trailers at the correct dock doors promptly and safely for loading and unloading operations, following instructions from the Warehouse Team Leader or Yard Supervisor.
Remove loaded or empty trailers from the dock doors immediately upon completion of warehouse activity to minimise idle time and maximize dock door utilization.
Inspect and manage trailer inventory in the yard, ensuring trailers are positioned in designated lanes (e.g., empty ready for loading, loaded awaiting dispatch, damaged).
Perform necessary hook-ups and detachments of trailers, ensuring landing gear is correctly deployed and secure before releasing a trailer.
Vehicle Maintenance and Safety
Conduct mandatory pre- and post-trip inspections of the shunter vehicle, documenting all safety and maintenance checks (e.g., lights, tires, fluid levels).
Report all shunter defects, maintenance requirements, or damage to the Team Leader immediately.
Adhere to all Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) standards within the yard, including speed limits, traffic patterns, and the use of appropriate safety equipment (PPE, wheel chocks, kingpin locks).
Ensure strict compliance with traffic and safety regulations while operating the shunter vehicle in congested areas.
Communication and Documentation
Maintain continuous radio or system communication with the Warehouse Team Leader to receive real-time instructions and report changes in trailer status or location.
Accurately complete all required documentation related to trailer moves, pre-trip inspections, and maintenance checks.
Coordinate with security and gate control regarding inbound/outbound trailer status and locations.

Skills, Experience & Education
Education
Valid Heavy-Duty/Commercial Driver's License (Code 10/14 or equivalent required for yard shunting).
Experience
1 year of professional driving experience, preferably operating a terminal tractor, shunter, or semi-trailer truck.
Excellent knowledge of safe vehicle operation and yard traffic procedures.
Skills
Ability to safely and accurately maneuver a terminal tractor and trailer, particularly when reversing and aligning trailers into tight dock doors or congested staging lanes.
Expertise in the routine operational tasks of hooking up and detaching various types of trailers
Understanding of the shunter vehicle's operation, including air brake systems, lighting, and general mechanical functions, necessary for pre- and post-trip inspections.
Clear and effective use of two-way radio or relevant communication devices to receive real-time instructions from the Warehouse Team Leader.
