Job Description / PURPOSE:


The Specialist Control and Instrumentation Engineer will be responsible for providing engineering governance, technical leadership and compliance oversight across control, instrumentation and related electrical systems within a mining/heavy industry construction environment. The role ensures adherence to Anglo-American standards, SANS regulations and legislative requirements while driving best practice engineering, quality control, asset optimization and safe project execution.


EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:


Knowledge and understanding of Anglo-American Standards
BTech or Degree in Electronic Engineering or Mechatronics
Registered with ECSA (Pr Eng or Pr Tech Eng)
Mining or heavy industry construction experience
Strong knowledge of control, instrumentation and IT engineering systems
Valid South African driver's license


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The successful candidate would be required, but not limited to:


Ensure engineering governance and compliance with legislation, SANS and company standards
Benchmark best practices and introduce new technology into the business
Implement quality control best practices during project execution
Manage and govern all control, instrumentation and IT processes safely and cost effectively
Drive continuous improvement and asset optimization initiatives
Manage C&I and IT contractors to ensure zero harm and no damage to property
Maintain and enhance customer and stakeholder relationships for project success
Monitor contractor performance against contractual requirements
Provide specialized technical support to operations and project teams
Develop and test new growth ideas through various project phases
Provide overall electrical support including C&I and IT disciplines
Liaise with external energy suppliers to ensure sufficient energy allocation
Allocate external resources to achieve section plans and objectives
Demonstrate behavior aligned with health, safety, environmental and company standards
