Role Description
The System Administrator role is a full-time, on-site position based at Babcock University in Ogun State, Nigeria. The role involves managing and maintaining servers, operating systems, and core IT infrastructure to ensure stable and secure operations across campus. Daily tasks include monitoring system performance, applying updates and patches, managing backups and disaster recovery procedures, and maintaining user accounts and access controls. The System Administrator will collaborate with the IT and academic units to provide technical support, resolve hardware and software issues, and implement system improvements aligned with institutional goals. The role also includes documenting configurations and procedures, ensuring compliance with university IT policies, and contributing to the reliability and scalability of the university's technology environment.
Qualifications
Candidates should possess strong skills in System Administration, including server configuration, operating system management, and user access control.
Candidates should possess robust Troubleshooting and Technical Support skills to diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and application issues efficiently.
Candidates should possess Network Administration and Information Technology skills, including basic network configuration, security practices, and infrastructure monitoring.
Relevant academic qualification such as a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
Experience with Linux and/or Windows server environments, virtualization platforms, and backup/recovery tools is beneficial.
Knowledge of network security, firewalls, and data protection best practices is an advantage.
Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
