Job Description

Install, configure, and administer UNIX/Linux servers (e.g., RHEL, Oracle Linux, Solaris/AIX as applicable) for project environments.
Provision and standardize server builds including OS installation, baseline configuration, and environment hardening.
Manage user/group administration, sudo policies, PAM controls, and implement least privilege access.
Configure and maintain storage and filesystems (LVM, multipath, NFS), including mount strategy, performance and resilience.
Set up and validate network configuration (IP, routing, DNS, NTP, firewall rules), ensuring connectivity to application and database tiers.
Implement system security controls: patching cadence, CIS-like hardening, SSH policies, audit logging, endpoint protection integration.
Automate repetitive admin tasks using shell scripting and tools such as Ansible (or similar automation framework).
Configure and manage services and daemon lifecycle (systemd/init), log rotation, and basic observability integration.
Perform performance monitoring and tuning (CPU, RAM, disk IO, network), and assist in root-cause analysis of incidents.
Support middleware/application installation prerequisites (packages, kernel params, ulimits, file descriptors, shared libraries).
Coordinate with storage/network/security teams for firewall approvals, VLANs, load balancers, certificates, and access pathways.
Ensure adherence to change management: raise RFCs, implement approved changes, and document build and configuration decisions.
Participate in implementation milestones: readiness checks, deployment support, cutover execution, and hypercare.
Prepare and maintain technical documentation: build guides, hardening evidence, support runbooks, and handover packs.

Typical deliverables:

Standard server build template, hardening evidence, patching report, access matrix, configuration baseline, cutover checklist, support runbook.
