Job Summary
The Van Sales Representative is responsible for selling and delivering the company's products directly to retail outlets, wholesalers, and other customers using a company van.
The role focuses on increasing sales volume, expanding market coverage, ensuring product availability, maintaining excellent customer relationships, collecting payments where applicable, and achieving assigned sales targets.
Key Responsibilities
Sales & Business Development:
Execute daily sales routes and visit assigned customers according to approved route plans.
Sell and deliver company products to retail outlets, distributors, supermarkets, and other customers.
Achieve daily, weekly, and monthly sales volume and revenue targets.
Identify and develop new customers within assigned territories.
Promote new products and ongoing sales promotions to customers.
Increase product penetration and market share within designated locations.
Customer Relationship Management:
Build and maintain strong relationships with existing customers.
Respond promptly to customer complaints and escalate unresolved issues.
Provide excellent customer service to encourage repeat business.
Educate customers on product features, pricing, and promotional offers.
Delivery & Distribution:
Ensure timely delivery of products to customers.
Verify product quantities before loading and after delivery.
Obtain customer acknowledgment and delivery confirmation.
Ensure proper handling of products to prevent damage or losses.
Cash Collection & Documentation:
Collect payments from customers where applicable.
Issue receipts and maintain accurate sales records.
Prepare daily sales reports, invoices, and route reports.
Deposit cash collections according to company procedures.
Reconcile daily stock movement and sales transactions.
Inventory & Vehicle Management:
Ensure accurate loading and unloading of products.
Conduct daily stock reconciliation.
Monitor stock levels and report shortages promptly.
Maintain cleanliness and proper condition of the assigned sales van.
Report vehicle faults and arrange preventive maintenance through the appropriate department.
Market Intelligence:
Monitor competitor activities, pricing, and promotional campaigns.
Gather market information and customer feedback.
Recommend opportunities for business growth and market expansion.
Compliance:
Adhere strictly to company sales policies and operational procedures.
Ensure compliance with road safety regulations while operating the company vehicle.
Maintain proper documentation for vehicle and deliveries.
Comply with health, safety, and security standards.
Requirements:
Educational Qualification:
Minimum of OND, NCE, or HND/Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or any related discipline.
Additional sales or marketing certifications will be an added advantage.
Experience:
Minimum of 2 - 4 years' experience in van sales, FMCG sales, retail distribution, or direct sales.
Experience in route-to-market sales and territory management is highly desirable.
