Job Summary


Vennote Technologies is seeking a highly skilled VMware & Windows Systems Administrator to join our infrastructure team for a critical VM Migration Project. The successful candidate will be responsible for the execution, management, and optimization of a large-scale migration involving approximately 2,000 Virtual Machines (VMs) and their associated Windows Server environments.
This role requires a technical specialist who can ensure zero-to-minimal downtime while maintaining the integrity of our enterprise IT infrastructure and meeting our strict change management and ISO 9001 and 27001 compliance standards.


Key Responsibilities


Migration Execution: Lead the end-to-end migration of 40+ VMs within a VMware environment, ensuring successful data transfer, configuration alignment, and connectivity.
Systems Administration: Manage and maintain Windows Server environments including Active Directory, Group Policy, and DNS management.
Virtualization Management: Configure and optimize VMware vSphere, vCenter, and ESXi hosts to support high-availability workloads.
Storage & Networking: Coordinate with the storage team on disk partitioning and SAN switch zoning to support migration workloads.
Automation: Utilize automation tools (e.g., Ansible) to streamline repetitive migration tasks and configuration management.
Documentation: Maintain rigorous documentation of the migration process, system architecture, and post-migration validation in accordance with Vennote's brand identity standards.
Security & Compliance: Ensure all migrated systems adhere to ISO 27001 security protocols and corporate hardening guidelines.


Required Technical Skills


VMware: Deep expertise in vSphere 7.x/8.x, vMotion, and SRM (Site Recovery Manager).
Windows Server: Expert-level knowledge of Windows Server administration, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.
Automation: Experience with Ansible for infrastructure automation and orchestration.
Database Awareness: Basic familiarity with MongoDB or SQL Server environments to assist in database-level migration validation.
Certifications: Possession of VCP (VMware Certified Professional) or MCSE (Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert) is highly preferred.


Qualifications & Experience


Minimum of 5 years of experience in enterprise IT infrastructure management.
Proven track record of successfully completing at least two large-scale VM migration projects.
Experience working within the ICT or telecommunications sector (experience with MTN infrastructure is a significant plus).
Strong analytical skills for troubleshooting complex virtualization and networking issues.
Excellent communication skills for technical reporting and stakeholder updates.


Project Timeline


Initial Phase: 6 Months (Focus on discovery, POC testing, and primary migration waves).
Extension Clause: Based on project scaling or post-migration support requirements, an additional 6-month extension may be offered.
