Job Summary
Waiters and waitresses in a restaurant are responsible for serving food and drinks to guests while delivering excellent customer service.
They are the direct link between the kitchen and the guest, and their service greatly affects the guest's experience.
Responsibilities
Welcome guests warmly and present menus
Take food and drink orders accurately
Answer questions about menu items
Make recommendations when needed
Write or input orders correctly into the system
Communicate special requests (no pepper, allergies, etc.) to the kitchen
Ensure orders are served correctly and on time
Serve food and drinks professionally
Check that meals are properly presented before serving
Serve in the correct order (drinks, starters, main course, dessert)
Refill drinks and attend to guests during the meal
Prepare and present bills to guests
Handle cash, POS, or card payments
Return correct balance and receipts
Follow proper cashier procedures
Clear tables after guests finish
Keep the dining area clean and organized
Reset tables for the next guests
Check on guests to ensure satisfaction
Handle minor complaints politely and quickly
Report serious issues to supervisors
Thank guests and invite them to return
Work closely with kitchen staff and supervisors
Assist fellow waiters during busy periods
Support banquet or event services when required.
Requirements
Interested candidates should possess an SSCE with at least 2 years experience.
