Job Description


Using a high degree of technical and managerial expertise manage all aspects of the workshop and showroom (for example, production process, showroom design, sales and business leads and requisitions) to deliver products that are unique, durable and of superior quality.

FINANCIAL RETURNS:


Participate in the preparation of the annual operating budget and financial and marketing plans. Monitor budget and control labor costs and expenses with a focus on rate strategy, building initiatives and inventory management.
Coordinate resources to ensure work is delivered on time and in the required quality.
Develop plans to reduce operational costs without compromising quality of manufactured products
Achieve budgeted revenues and personal/team sales goals and maximize profitability
Prepare and submit statistical, performance, forecast analyses and monthly reports on time. Analyze current/potential market and sales trends, coordinate activities to increase revenue and market share and monitor performance to ensure actual sales meet and exceed established revenue plan
Maintain/design procedures for security of monies, credit and financial transactions, client security and inventory control.


PEOPLE:


Manage day-to-day staffing requirements, plan and assign work, and establish performance and development goals for team members. Provide mentoring, coaching and regular feedback to help manage conflict and improve team member performance.
Educate and train team members in compliance with company, state and local laws and safety regulations. Ensure staff is properly trained and has the tools and equipment to carry out job duties.
Ensure staff is properly trained on machine and equipment usage, systems, security and cash-handling procedures, and manufacturing quality standards.
Promote company culture and values and ensure business decisions are made in line with these.
To facilitate a clean and safe working environment for all our employees according to state labor laws and ensure all safety measures are adhered to.
Attend communication meetings as required and hold regular performance briefs with the team clearly
communicating company priorities and expectations from the staff.
To lead innovation in new products and new methods and processes of production and to champion change in the company
To maintain a record of timekeeping and keep a log of work undertaken and by whom it was carried out


CLIENT EXPERIENCE:


Ensure staff deliver orders promptly and with meticulous attention to detail.
Ensure staff make time to interact effectively with clients to clearly identify their needs and that orders are recorded accurately.
Respond appropriately to client complaints, solicit feedback and build relationships to drive continuous improvement in client satisfaction.
Conduct routine inspections of the workshop and showroom and take immediate actions to correct any deficiencies.
Develop and implement systems to record, file and store information pertaining to client enquiries


RESPONSIBLE BUSINESS:


Check billing instructions and client credit for compliance with company credit policy and ensure all transactions are handled in a secure manner.
Train team members on emergency procedures and serve as a central communications point during emergency/crisis situations; develop and maintain relationships with local fire, police, and emergency personnel.
Ensure minimal wastage and its proper disposal and efficient use of materials resulting to an operation that has minimal environmental footprint.
Track company vehicles and equipment on the road, investigate customer/colleague complaints and concerns arising from their maintenance/Equipment and suggest appropriate solutions
Perform other duties as assigned.


ACCOUNTABILITY


This job is the top managerial job at the unit factory level. Reports to the Operations Manager. Typically supervises workshop staff, off-site staff including site supervisors and installers.


Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS


Bachelor's degree/ Diploma / higher education qualification / equivalent in Woodworks/Interior Design/Business Administration/Project Management from a recognized institution, plus 5 years of commercial woodwork factory operation experience including management experience. Must speak fluent English.
This job requires ability to perform the following:
Frequently patrolling the workshop, showroom and general factory area
Carrying or lifting items weighing up to 50 kilograms
Handling various equipment and machines
Use of computers to generate quotations and other reports.

Reading and writing abilities are utilized often when completing paperwork and management reports, interpreting results, giving and receiving instructions, and training.
Mathematical skills, including basic math, budgeting, profit/loss concepts, percentages, and variances are utilized frequently.
