Job Summary


The Accountant will be responsible for managing the financial operations of Bau Strabe Limited, with a strong focus on construction project accounting, cost control, and financial reporting.
The role involves tracking project expenditures, managing site finances, ensuring regulatory compliance, and providing financial insights to support efficient project delivery and profitability.


Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting:


Prepare and maintain accurate financial records, including general ledger, journals, and financial statements.
Produce monthly management accounts and project financial reports.
Monitor company cash flow and provide regular financial updates to management.


Project & Site Accounting:


Track project costs (labour, materials, equipment, subcontractors) against approved budgets.
Prepare cost analysis reports for each project and highlight variances.
Manage site petty cash and operational float, ensuring proper documentation and retirement.
Work closely with the Project Manager to monitor project profitability and cost efficiency.


Accounts Payable & Receivable:


Process supplier invoices and subcontractor payments.
Manage client invoicing, interim payment applications, and follow up on receivables.
Maintain accurate records of all payables and receivables.


Payroll & Statutory Compliance:


Prepare and process staff payroll, including site workers.
Ensure timely remittance of statutory deductions (PAYE, VAT, WHT, Pension, NSITF, etc.).
Ensure compliance with Nigerian financial regulations and tax laws.


Banking & Reconciliation:


Perform bank reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
Manage company bank accounts and monitor transactions.


Audit & Documentation:


Support internal and external audits by providing required documentation.
Maintain proper filing systems for all financial and project-related documents.


Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)


Accuracy and timeliness of financial reports
Effective cost control on projects
Timely processing of payments and payroll
Compliance with statutory obligations
Reduction in financial discrepancies and audit queries.


Qualifications & Requirements


HND or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
Professional certification (ICAN or ACCA) is highly desirable.
3 - 5 years' experience, preferably in a construction or engineering company.
Strong knowledge of project accounting and cost control.
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks, or similar).
Good understanding of Nigerian tax and statutory requirements.
Advanced use of Microsoft Excel for financial analysis.
