Job Summary


The Biology Teacher is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in biological sciences to students, fostering scientific inquiry, critical thinking, and a deep understanding of life sciences.
The teacher will create engaging lessons, assess student progress, and contribute to the overall academic and personal development of students.


Responsibilities


Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging biology lessons aligned with the curriculum and prepare students for internal and external examinations.
Conduct laboratory practical sessions, ensure laboratory safety, and maintain laboratory equipment and supplies.
Assess student performance through tests, assignments, and examinations, and provide timely feedback on academic progress.
Maintain effective classroom management and create a positive learning environment that fosters scientific inquiry and critical thinking.
Participate in departmental meetings, school activities, professional development programs, and complete all administrative duties as assigned.
Prepare students for internal and external examinations (WAEC, NECO, JAMB, IGCSE, SAT, etc.).


Requirements
Education:


Bachelor's degree in Biology, Biological Sciences, or related field (minimum requirement)
Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) or Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) preferred
Master's degree in Biology or Education is an advantage.


Certification:


Valid teaching license/certificate recognized by relevant educational authorities
Professional registration with Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) or equivalent.


Experience:


Minimum 3 yearsof teaching experience
Experience teaching at secondary school level preferred
Laboratory teaching experience is essential.


Skills and Competencies:


Strong knowledge of biological sciences and current developments in the field
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to explain complex scientific concepts in accessible ways
Proficiency in laboratory techniques and safety procedures
Strong classroom management skills
