About the Role
The Chief Operating Officer will provide strategic leadership and oversight of the organisation's day-to-day operations, ensuring operational efficiency, business performance, regulatory compliance, strong governance and effective execution of the organisation's strategic objectives.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Managing Director and senior management team to drive business performance, optimise operational processes, strengthen internal controls and ensure effective coordination across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
Provide strategic leadership and oversight of the organisation's day-to-day operations.
Translate the organisation's strategic objectives into effective operational plans and measurable outcomes.
Oversee the coordination and performance of key operational departments and functions.
Drive operational efficiency through the review, improvement and implementation of effective processes and systems.
Monitor business performance against agreed targets, objectives and KPIs and provide regular reports to senior management.
Identify operational challenges, inefficiencies and business risks and develop appropriate solutions.
Strengthen internal controls, operational processes and governance frameworks.
Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, policies and internal procedures.
Support the organisation in maintaining effective corporate governance and risk management practices.
Work closely with the Managing Director and senior management team on strategic initiatives and business decisions.
Provide commercial and financial insight to support business growth and profitability.
Identify opportunities to improve revenue, reduce operational costs and enhance overall business performance.
Oversee the effective implementation of strategic and operational initiatives.
Foster collaboration and alignment across departments to ensure seamless business operations.
Lead, mentor and develop teams, promoting accountability, performance and continuous improvement.
Establish and maintain effective relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
Ensure that operational issues requiring executive attention are identified, escalated and resolved promptly.
Support the development and implementation of policies, SOPs and operational frameworks.
Ensure the organisation has appropriate systems, resources and processes to support its growth objectives.
Provide regular operational and performance updates to the Managing Director and other relevant stakeholders.
Perform other strategic and operational responsibilities as may be required by Management.
Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration or a related discipline.
A professional qualification such as ACA, ACCA, CFA, ICAN or equivalent will be an advantage.
5 - 10 years of relevant professional experience, with significant experience in Asset Management, Investment Management, Stockbroking or Financial Services.
Proven experience in a senior management or executive leadership position.
Strong understanding of asset management operations, financial markets and investment products.
Good knowledge of applicable SEC regulations, corporate governance, risk management and regulatory requirements.
Demonstrated experience in business operations, performance management and process improvement.
Strong commercial and financial acumen, with the ability to understand and drive business performance.
Proven ability to develop and implement operational strategies and translate business objectives into measurable results.
Strong leadership, strategic thinking, decision-making and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to lead and coordinate multiple teams, priorities and strategic initiatives.
Strong organisational and project management capabilities.
Proficiency in relevant financial, accounting and business management systems.
