About the Role


The Fund Accountant will be responsible for providing accurate and timely accounting and financial reporting support for the organisation's investment funds and portfolios.
The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate fund records, reconciling investment and financial accounts, analysing investment data, supporting financial reporting and ensuring that fund accounting activities comply with applicable regulatory and reporting requirements.


Key Responsibilities


Maintain accurate accounting records for investment funds and portfolios.
Prepare periodic financial statements, fund reports and management reports.
Perform regular reconciliation of fund accounts, bank accounts, investment transactions and other financial records.
Review and analyse investment transactions, income, expenses and fund movements.
Assist with the calculation and review of Net Asset Value (NAV) and related fund information.
Reconcile investment holdings and ensure that transactions are accurately captured and accounted for.
Monitor fund income, expenses, fees and other financial obligations.
Investigate and resolve discrepancies identified during account and investment reconciliations.
Maintain appropriate supporting documentation and audit trails for fund transactions.
Support the preparation of internal, external and regulatory financial reports.
Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, regulatory requirements and internal policies.
Liaise with relevant internal teams, custodians, auditors, banks and other external stakeholders as required.
Provide support during internal and external audits and regulatory reviews.
Monitor financial reporting deadlines and ensure timely completion of assigned deliverables.
Identify accounting or process-related issues and escalate them appropriately.
Contribute to improving fund accounting processes, controls and reporting systems.
Perform other duties related to fund accounting and financial reporting as may be assigned.


Requirements


Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or a related discipline.
3 - 5 years of relevant professional experience, preferably within asset management, investment management, fund administration, stockbroking or a related financial services environment.
Demonstrable experience in fund accounting and/or portfolio accounting.
Good understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
Experience with NAV calculation, investment reconciliation and fund reporting is highly desirable.
Good understanding of investment products and financial market transactions.
Knowledge of applicable financial regulations and reporting requirements.
Proficiency in accounting software and financial systems.
Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
Professional qualification such as ACA, ACCA, CFA or equivalent will be an advantage.
Strong analytical and numerical skills.
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
Strong reconciliation and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
High level of integrity, professionalism and confidentiality.
