Job Description
A well-established, boutique insurance practice based in Waterfall is looking for a Domestic Underwriter to join their small, collaborative team.
Key Responsibilities:
Assessing and underwriting domestic insurance applications in line with company guidelines
Reviewing policy amendments, renewals, and endorsements
Evaluating risk exposure and determining appropriate cover levels
Calculating premiums and ensuring accurate policy pricing
Processing new business, renewals, and cancellations
Providing quotations for household contents, buildings, and all-risk cover
Liaising with brokers, clients, and insurers regarding policy requirements
Ensuring compliance with underwriting standards and regulatory requirements
Reviewing claims histories and risk profiles when assessing applications
Identifying potential underwriting risks and recommending appropriate actions
Maintaining accurate policy records and client information
Handling policy queries and providing technical underwriting support
Monitoring renewal portfolios and retention opportunities
Assisting with policy wording and coverage interpretation
Preparing underwriting reports and management information where required
Managing service level agreements and turnaround times
Building and maintaining strong relationships with brokers and clients
Supporting the claims department with policy-related queries
Ensuring all underwriting documentation is complete and compliant
Staying updated on industry trends, legislation, and insurance products.
Requirements:
Matric
2+ years in short-term insurance (underwriting and/or claims)
Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
Good communication and client service ability
Proficient in MS Office
Willingness to learn and grow within the industry
