Job Description


We are seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Operations Controller to join our clients dynamic logistics team. This role is responsible for coordinating day-to-day operational activities, monitoring temperature-controlled cargo movements, managing stakeholder communications, and ensuring the smooth execution of export logistics processes.
The successful candidate will play a critical role in maintaining operational excellence, supporting clients, transporters, cold stores, and internal departments while ensuring compliance with customer requirements and industry standards.


Key Responsibilities

Operations Management


Monitor and manage blank container numbers for daily loadings, particularly sterile containers.
Follow up and allocate GEO numbers for loads older than the loading date.
Review TempCheck tick lists to ensure required services have been accurately captured.
Identify and resolve missing Client Temperature Acceptance Reports and temperature code discrepancies.
Analyse TempTale temperature alerts and implement corrective actions where required.
Request, review and analyse Port, Depot and PPECB monitoring reports.
Manage Arrived at Facility notifications and ensure all required documentation is attached.
Review and process manual TempCheck notifications and communicate accurate information to clients.
Assist with internal and external dispute resolution relating to operational matters.
Retrieve and maintain temperature download data from supplier platforms.
Monitor email alerts and ensure timely follow-up and resolution.
Assist with purchase order files and transporter communication regarding TempTale devices.
Participate in weekend operational duty rosters as required.


Stock Management Support


Coordinate the distribution of all PLS stock to transporters, cold stores and LCL Durban and Port Elizabeth offices.
Maintain accurate stock records and update stock control sheets.
Arrange courier collections and deliveries where required.
Prepare and issue stock acknowledgement documentation.
Monitor stock levels and support inventory control processes.


Minimum Requirements


Grade 12 (Matric) - Essential.
Diploma in Shipping, Clearing and Freight Forwarding, Distribution and Logistics, Business Management or a related field - Preferred.
Minimum 2 years' experience within Freight Forwarding, Logistics or Perishable Exports.
Strong understanding of intermodal logistics and supply chain operations.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
Excellent administrative and organisational skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
Self-motivated, proactive and solutions-driven.
Willingness to work additional hours and weekends when operational requirements demand.
