Drilling Assistant at Afrimat

Minimum Qualifications / Experience / Key Competencies


Grade 12 certificate
Minimum of 1 to 3 years' experience in an open pit-mining environment
Strong communication skills both verbal and written
Able to work well under pressure
Own Transport & accommodation
Blast assistant certificate will be an advantage


Duties and Responsibilities (not limited to):


Assist Drill Rig Operator with drilling activities
Ensure sufficient drill holes are cleaned for the day's production
Drilled holes properly plugged
Assist with sharpening of drill bits
Ensure that no less than 2 buckets of stemming are placed next to each drilled hole
Continually monitor drill rig, report any mechanical faults to Operator
Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor / Manager
Help with blasting activities
