Minimum Qualifications / Experience / Key Competencies
Grade 12 (Matric) qualification
Valid Electrical Trade Test
Valid MV/HT Competency certificate (added advantage)
Must have a valid driver's license
A minimum of five years' management experience within a mining environment.
Must have previous authorizations to perform High/Medium Voltage switching
Advanced fault-finding, ability to read complex blueprints/schematics, and knowledge of PLC systems
Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
Ability to work independently within set targets.
People management and communication skills.
Ability to work under pressure, adapt to changing conditions, and manage a team effectively.
Duties and Responsibilities (not limited to):
Team Supervision: Lead and coordinate electrical artisans and contractors, ensuring work is completed to standard and on deadline.
Maintenance Management: Plan and execute preventative maintenance, troubleshoot equipment failures, and manage emergency breakdown repairs.
Safety & Compliance: Enforce strict adherence to safety standards (such as the Mine Health and Safety Act), conduct risk assessments, and lead safety meetings or "toolbox talks".
Resource Oversight: Manage budgets, coordinate the procurement of spare parts, and ensure tools and equipment are properly maintained.
Technical Oversight: Supervise medium and high voltage (MV/HV) reticulation, substation maintenance, and specialized mining equipment like crushers.
Administrative Duties: Maintain meticulous records of tasks, update maintenance systems, and report progress to senior engineer.
