Job Description


We are seeking a competent and detail-oriented Medical Laboratory Scientist(Microbiology Major) to join its diagnostic team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting laboratory investigations, analyzing results, and supporting accurate diagnosis and treatment of patients.
The role requires strong technical expertise in microbiology, adherence to safety standards, and the ability to deliver timely and reliable laboratory results.


Key Responsibilities


Perform laboratory tests in areas including bacteriology, virology, mycology, and parasitology.
Collect, process, and analyze patient specimens in accordance with standard procedures.
Apply aseptic techniques and maintain strict biosafety practices at all times.
Accurately interpret and report microbiological test results to aid clinical decision-making.
Ensure proper documentation of test procedures, results, and laboratory activities.
Maintain, clean, and calibrate laboratory equipment.
Adhere to quality control and quality assurance protocols.
Collaborate with doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure effective patient care.
Ensure compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the laboratory environment.


Required Skills & Competencies


Strong knowledge of bacteriology, virology, mycology, and parasitology
Proficiency in aseptic techniques and biosafety practices
Ability to accurately interpret microbiological results
Good documentation and communication skills
High level of attention to detail
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Professionalism and ethical conduct.


Education & Professional Requirements:


Bachelor's Degree in Medical Laboratory Science (BMLS) or equivalent
Valid practicing license from the appropriate regulatory body
Registration with the Medical Laboratory Science Council


Experience:


2 - 5 years relevant laboratory experience (preferred)
Experience in a hospital or diagnostic laboratory setting is an added advantage

Willingness to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays
Strong commitment to accuracy, patient safety, and confidentiality
Ability to work effectively as part of a team.


Remuneration


Salary: N150,000 - N250,000 monthly.
