Job Description


St. Dominic Catholic Hospital is seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Midwife to join our maternal and child healthcare team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing safe, high-quality antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal care to mothers and newborns while ensuring adherence to professional standards and hospital policies.
The ideal candidate must demonstrate strong clinical competence, empathy, and a commitment to promoting maternal and newborn health.


Key Responsibilities


Provide comprehensive antenatal, labour, and postnatal care to expectant and new mothers.
Monitor the progress of labour and assist in safe delivery of babies.
Assess the health condition of both mother and newborn before, during, and after delivery.
Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by the attending physician.
Assist doctors during obstetric procedures when required.
Provide counselling and education to mothers on breastfeeding, newborn care, family planning, and maternal health.
Monitor and record vital signs and maintain accurate patient records.
Identify complications and promptly escalate to the appropriate medical personnel.
Maintain hygiene and infection prevention standards within the maternity unit.
Participate in ward rounds and maternity team meetings.
Support hospital initiatives aimed at improving maternal and child health outcomes.


Education & Professional Requirements


Registered Midwife (RM), BNSC / ND qualification from a recognized institution
Valid registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council
Current practicing license.


Experience:


2 - 6 years of experience in maternity care (preferred)
Experience working in a hospital maternity unit will be an added advantage.

Remuneration


Competitive and attractive salary package (N120,000 - N250,000 monthly)
