The candidate will manage and oversee daily operations of the clearing and forwarding department, efficient processes, compliance with regulatory requirements, and timely execution of tasks.
Areas of responsibility:
Deeper understanding of freight forwarding operation
Oversee operations in Mombasa and Nairobi offices
Bond Management -execute all required bonds in liaison with the insurance company
Generation of internal order numbers -creation of internal order number for tracking & billing purposes
Approvals- Review and approve all supplier or vendor invoices before payment
Regulatory compliance -ensure compliance with all local and international regulations related to freight forwarding
Customs operations oversight- serve as customs liaison representative at KEBS, KRA, and the Kenya Federation of Freight Forwarders Association
People Management- offer administrative role to the employee and assessing their performance, setting targets, conducting performance reviews
Data protection- maintain confidentiality of department data collected
Job Requirement;
Education
Bachelors' degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management or from related field
Certification from Kenya School of Revenue Administration
Computer knowledge
Job related skills, knowledge and experience
5 years experience in managerial position in Clearing & Forwarding
Strong understanding of clearing & forwarding operations, regulations, compliance, and financial accuracy, coupled with effective communication skills to liaise with regulatory bodies and insurance companies
Good problem-solving skills
