Job Description
Conduct comprehensive eye examinations to assess visual acuity and detect any eye health issues.
Prescribe eyeglasses, contact lenses, and other visual aids as needed to correct vision.
Diagnose and treat eye conditions such as glaucoma, cataracts, and macular degeneration.
Provide pre- and post-operative care for patients undergoing eye surgeries, such as LASIK or cataract surgery.
Educate patients about proper eye care practices, including the use of eyewear and contact lenses.
Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, such as ophthalmologists and opticians, to ensure coordinated patient care.
Stay updated on the latest advancements in optometry and incorporate new technologies and techniques into practice.
Requirements
Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited optometry school.
Current state license to practice optometry.
Comprehensive knowledge of ocular anatomy, physiology, and pathology.
Experience in conducting eye examinations and diagnosing eye conditions.
Familiarity with diagnostic tools and equipment used in optometry.
