Key Duties & Responsibilities


Strategic Leadership & Planning
Develop and implement strategic and business plans aligned with Board directives and SACCO objectives.
Lead, inspire, and mentor teams to achieve performance targets and uphold cooperative values.
Provide regular performance, risk, and operational updates to the Board.
Monitor emerging industry trends and propose innovative strategies for growth and sustainability.
Financial Management
Oversee prudent financial management, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
Manage the loan portfolio to maintain profitability and minimize default rates.
Ensure compliance with SASRA financial requirements including capital adequacy, liquidity, and reporting.
Implement robust internal controls to safeguard SACCO assets and ensure transparency.
Membership Growth & Service Delivery
Formulate and execute strategies to attract new members and retain existing ones.
Oversee delivery of efficient and high-quality member services.
Maintain strong member relations by addressing concerns and enhancing satisfaction.
Operations Management
Supervise day-to-day SACCO operations, including loan processing, savings mobilization, and customer service.
Ensure operational procedures and policies are well-documented, efficient, and compliant.
Oversee IT system utilization, ensuring data security and operational efficiency.
Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management
Ensure adherence to SASRA, Co-operative Act, and all relevant financial regulations.
Implement risk management frameworks to mitigate operational, financial, and legal risks.
Facilitate audits and inspections, ensuring timely implementation of recommendations.
Human Resource Management
Oversee recruitment, training, performance appraisal, and development of SACCO staff.
Foster a culture of accountability, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
Motivate and mentor teams to achieve organizational goals.
Stakeholder Engagement
Liaise effectively with the Board, members, auditors, regulators, and other stakeholders.
Represent the SACCO in industry forums, regulatory engagements, and member events.
Build and maintain strong partnerships to enhance SACCO visibility and influence.
Reporting & Performance Monitoring
Prepare accurate and timely reports on financial, operational, and strategic performance.
Ensure compliance with all statutory and regulatory reporting requirements.
Provide data-driven insights to support Board decision-making and strategic planning.


Qualifications & Experience


Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or related field.
Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in financial services, with at least 3 years in a managerial role.
Strong understanding of SACCO operations, SASRA guidelines, and cooperative principles.
Proven experience in strategic planning, financial management, and risk management.
Familiarity with the Co-operative Act, SASRA regulations, and Kenyan financial regulatory frameworks.
