Ultrasound Radiographer Grade 1 to 3 (Sonographer) at Western Cape Department of Health and Wellness

REQUIREMENTS:


Appropriate qualification that allows registration with HPCSA in Ultrasound Radiography
Registration with HPCSA as Radiographer in Ultrasound
Grade 1: None (RSA) / 1 year (foreign) / Grade 2: 10 years / Grade 3: 20 years
Comprehensive sonography education and extensive hands-on experience, with emphasis on obstetrics and gynaecology
Thorough understanding of human anatomy and physiology
Commitment to ethical practice, maintaining patient confidentiality
Strong abilities to interact effectively with patients and medical staff
Meticulous reporting of ultrasound findings


DUTIES:


Perform full range of obstetric and gynaecological ultrasound scans, including routine, level II/III, and specialised assessments
Use advanced ultrasound equipment to produce accurate diagnostic images
Identify normal and abnormal findings, provide clear structured reports
Adopt responsibility for back-up and storage of ultrasound images
Deliver compassionate, patient-centred care
Manage administration and care of ultrasound equipment
Participate in departmental meetings, case discussions, audits
Support junior staff and students through mentorship
